Grizzly Bears Bestowed With Top Canadian Tourism Honour

Bella Coola, BC, Canada – 13 June, 2012 – Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, a wilderness lodge in the wilds of British Columbia, today announced, after a stringent review, that Destination Canada (DC) has selected the Lodge’s interpretive Grizzly Bear Tours as a member of its’ prestigious “Signature Experiences Collection” which includes tourism operators from all over Canada who offer unique, exceptional Canadian experiences, rather than just passive sight-seeing.

In a press release, Destination Canada stated that the organization’s global strategy was to “make Canada stand out in a fiercely competitive tourism marketplace” by showcasing “members of the Collection as compelling ambassadors of  Canada's Tourism brand, ‘Canada. Keep Exploring’ in the 11 countries where it invests, including the UK, France, Germany and Australia.”

To qualify as a member of the “Signature Experiences Collection”, Tweedsmuir Park Lodge’s application was reviewed by an expert panel from the DC who verified the Grizzly Bear Tours met the “Experience” criteria.

“We’re very excited that the DC recognizes that our Bear Tours offer local and international travellers a phenomenal Canadian experience which they will talk about back home for years to come,” enthused Bear-Viewing Guide Doug Baker. “Our guests love going on nature walks and river float trips with friendly, knowledgeable, certified bear-viewing guides. Imagine yourself floating down a gentle river, surrounded by towering mountain peaks and watching grizzly bears feed on salmon on the river banks. It is just magical here in Bella Coola!”
